Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a CNC Programmer Miller to facilitate the efficient running of a pair of Haas CNC machines. Ensuring correct operation of a CNC mill and lathe to deliver components against Customer orders within stated tolerances, deadlines and Company Quality standards.

Your responsibilities:

  • Develop CNC part programs & tooling to cost effective manufacture of parts.
  • Set and operate machines as required.
  • Identify new techniques and processes.
  • Read and understand mechanical drawings.
  • Identify the most cost effective batch manufacture method.
  • Machine “Right First Time” components for use.
  • Develop design with engineers when required.
  • Work with engineers to resolve problems.
  • Record work duration and timesheets.
  • Actively participate in quality system and documentation.
  • Respond to variable tasks and demands.
  • Team work with colleagues for tool/machine utilisation.
  • Assist/participate in any other task deemed appropriate.

  • To understand, apply and promote a ‘safety first’ culture, personally and amongst all direct reports, ensuring strict compliance with both Sonardyne and Customer policies, procedures and practices relating to Health, Safety and Environment, including the completion of risk assessments, workplace inspections, wearing of PPE, complying with Safe Working Instructions, undertaking training and communication, incident investigations and ensuring timely identification, escalation and resolution of any aspects that could adversely impact employees health & safety or others, as a result of Sonardyne work activities
  • To ensure awareness, understanding and adherence to all Company Policies and Procedures including Health & Safety, Anti Bribery, Code of Conduct/Ethics, ISO – QMS, Financial, Commercial, Operational and Employment related
  • To contribute to the Sonardyne continuous improvement process through the presentation of corrective actions, suggestions, or initiatives, focussed on increasing efficiency, productivity, technical advancement, customer satisfaction and employee morale etc within the Marketing team or Companywide.
  • To maintain an update technical and professional job competency (qualification, knowledge, and personal skills), through continuous personal development including formal training, self-directed learning, use of professional workshops, membership of professional bodies, literature reviews etc
  • To keep up to date with Company organisation and structure, technology, products, applications and customers, through attendance on training events, personal liaison with internal commercial, technical and business support staff and awareness of general Company internal communications
  • To establish, maintain and promote effective internal working relationships across the Company through the demonstration of positive two-way communications, planning, and collaborative working style.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:

Essential:

  • CNC Machining Milling
  • Experience of working to Quality standards
  • CAD/CAM experience
  • Competent in deburring a range of materials i.e. plastic, steel, aluminum
  • Competent in the use of measuring equipment i.e. Vernier calipers and micrometers
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • Ability to input data into ERP system i.e. Syspro
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Ability to lift between 18kg to 25kg

Fanuc Background would be an advantage but not essential
