SPRINT-Nav explained: underwater navigation for every vehicle, every mission

Jump to

The SPRINT-Nav family delivers one navigation approach for every class of marine robotic vehicle.

From compact remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and towfish through to work-class vehicles, DP (dynamic positioning) vessels and long-endurance autonomous platforms, every SPRINT-Nav is built around a common architecture, software environment and user experience.

That means you can choose the navigator that matches your mission today while retaining a clear path to scale as your vehicles and operations evolve.

This video series introduces every member of the SPRINT-Nav family and explains how each system addresses different subsea navigation challenges, from small vehicle guidance and survey operations through to dynamic positioning and long-endurance autonomous missions.

Start here: What is the SPRINT-Nav family?

Discover how the SPRINT-Nav family has evolved into a scalable underwater navigation platform covering everything from compact robotic vehicles to advanced autonomous systems. Learn what the products have in common, how the family is structured and why a common software, API and user experience matters for vehicle manufacturers and operators.

SPRINT-Nav U and UX

Survey-grade navigation for small vehicles

Best for: Small ROVs, autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), active towfish and compact robotic platforms

Small vehicles face big navigation challenges. SPRINT-Nav U and UX bring true north-seeking navigation (unaffected by ferrous structures), survey-grade performance and robust vehicle control to compact platforms where size, weight and power matter.

In this video, you’ll learn how SPRINT-Nav U and UX help small vehicles collect higher-quality data, operate around structures without magnetic interference and deliver reliable positioning for inspection and survey tasks.

SPRINT-Nav M

Compact navigation for professional survey and inspection operations

Best for: Survey ROVs, offshore renewables, inspection and construction support

SPRINT-Nav M builds on the success of SPRINT-Nav Mini with improved performance, faster alignment and expanded aiding options.

This video explores the capabilities that make SPRINT-Nav M a popular choice for marine robotics teams, including support for Fusion 2 range aiding, SLAM calibration workflows, inspection-grade performance and multiple depth-rated variants. It also explains how the platform supports inspection, survey, and subsea construction operations.

SPRINT-Nav I, S and X

Choosing the right navigator for inspection, survey and autonomous operations

Best for: ROVs, AUVs and advanced marine robotic systems

Not every mission requires the same navigation performance. That’s why the original-size SPRINT-Nav range now includes three variants: SPRINT-Nav I, SPRINT-Nav S and SPRINT-Nav X.

This video explains the differences between each model and helps you identify the most suitable option for your vehicle and operational requirements.

SPRINT-Nav F and FX

Navigation for GNSS-denied and long-endurance autonomous missions

Best for: XLUUVs, autonomous systems, defence, science and offshore operations

What happens when there is no GNSS, no acoustic update and no Doppler velocity log (DVL) bottom lock? SPRINT-Nav F and FX are designed specifically for missions where free-inertial performance becomes critical. This video explains how these system maintain navigation accuracy during extended periods without external aiding and why robust high end navigation performance is becoming increasingly important for maritime autonomy and long-range autonomous operations.

SPRINT-Nav DP

Dynamic positioning reference without transponders or clump weights

Best for: DP vessels, offshore support vessels and subsea operations

Dynamic positioning depends on reliable position references, especially when GNSS signals are degraded, blocked or unavailable.

In this video, we explore how dynamic positioning systems work, the technologies commonly used as DP references and how SPRINT-Nav DP uses the seabed itself as a reference without requiring deployed transponders or clump weights.

If you work with DP operations, vessel station-keeping, offshore construction or subsea intervention, this is the ideal place to understand where SPRINT-Nav DP fits into the wider DP ecosystem.
