How our transponders fit into wider systems
Our transponders are designed to operate as part of integrated positioning, navigation and communication systems, not as standalone devices.
Used with our USBL systems such as Ranger 2, Mini‑Ranger 2 and Micro‑Ranger 2, transponders enable real‑time tracking and control of divers, vehicles and towed systems from the surface. In LBL and Sparse LBL configurations, seabed‑deployed transponders form stable reference networks that deliver depth‑independent positioning for survey, construction and inertial navigation aiding
Transponders also play a critical role in hybrid workflows, where acoustic positioning is combined with INS, DP systems or onboard sensors. In these setups, transponder ranges are used to correct INS drift, provide independent DP references, or support multi‑asset operations involving vehicles, structures and seabed instruments simultaneously.
By working seamlessly across our 6G® Wideband acoustic platform, transponders allow operators to build scalable, flexible subsea systems — from simple single‑target tracking to complex, multi‑vehicle and multi‑vessel operations — with confidence in accuracy and reliability.
