Our people design, engineer and manufacture technologies that are enabling our customers to discover, navigate, measure, detect and communicate in the toughest environment on earth: Our oceans. We’ve been actively developing the technology to make the oceans accessible for over 50 years and we’re only just getting started… At Sonardyne, we value different ways of thinking. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a meticulous and proactive Quality Inspector to join our Quality team at Blackbushe.

If you have a passion for quality, enjoy working with complex electronic assemblies, and take pride in ensuring products meet the highest standards before reaching customers, we’d love to hear from you.

The Role

As a Quality Inspector, you will play a key role in maintaining the exceptional standards our customers expect. Working closely with Production, Engineering, Test and Supply Chain teams, you will inspect electrical and electro-mechanical assemblies, identify quality concerns, and help ensure only compliant products leave our facility.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and the confidence to challenge quality issues when they arise.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Carrying out detailed inspections of PCBs, cables and electro-mechanical assemblies from both internal manufacturing and external suppliers.
  • Performing patrol inspections across production and test areas to maintain high workmanship standards.
  • Reviewing technical drawings, bills of materials and supporting documentation to verify compliance.
  • Identifying quality issues and raising observations through our internal reporting systems to support rapid resolution.
  • Verifying certification and traceability documentation associated with incoming materials and components.
  • Inspecting coils, cables, battery packs and other assemblies for workmanship, labelling and compliance.
  • Supporting inspection and basic testing activities for batteries and simple PCB assemblies following training.
  • Prioritising inspection activities to support production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
  • Maintaining accurate records within our ERP system (SYSPRO) and preparing reject documentation where required.
  • Authorising products as fit for despatch and supporting final quality sign-off activities.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across Quality and Operations.
  • Promoting and maintaining a strong culture of safety, quality and compliance.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Experience inspecting electronic, electrical or electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, assembly documentation and parts lists.
  • Knowledge of PCB assembly processes, including surface mount and through-hole technologies.
  • Understanding of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) requirements and controls.
  • Experience using computer-based systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English.

Desirable

  • Previous experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems such as SYSPRO.
  • Soldering skills.
  • Familiarity with quality control processes and inspection methodologies.
