Supporting the Marine Conservation Society’s Big Give Green Match Fund Appeal

21052025

We’re proud to have supported the Marine Conservation Society‘s recent Big Give Green Match Fund appeal, which raised an impressive £62,999. The campaign aimed to tackle the growing problem of harmful “forever chemicals” entering the ocean through sewage, which pose dangers to marine ecosystems, wildlife, and even human health.

Our matched funding pledge played a vital role in kickstarting the campaign, enabling the charity to surpass its £60,000 target. The funds raised will go towards supporting specialists in policy, science communication and parliamentary advocacy to address the threats of ocean pollution and drive impactful change.

“We are delighted to partner with the Marine Conservation Society for a second year and contribute to this vital cause. As a company deeply invested in the health of our oceans, we are committed to supporting impactful initiatives that protect marine ecosystems and ensure a sustainable future.”

Graham Brown, Managing Director.

The Big Give Green Match Fund appeal underscores the urgent need for greater public awareness and stronger legislative protections to combat the release of hazardous chemicals into the marine environment. Dr Francesca Ginley, Chemicals Policy and Advocacy Manager at the Marine Conservation Society, emphasised, “We need people to be aware of these chemicals and understand their impact so that they can add to our outrage and call for better protections.”

The Marine Conservation Society has outlined a roadmap to collect evidence of chemical pollution, advocate for UK Government action to ban the use of harmful chemicals like PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) by 2030 and raise awareness about their widespread impacts. The ultimate goal is to keep these “forever chemicals” from reaching the ocean altogether, safeguarding marine environments for generations to come.

“We’re delighted Sonardyne has renewed its partnership with us for a second consecutive year. This continued support helps to protect and restore the health of the ocean. As part of the renewed partnership, Sonardyne has supported our match-funded Big Give campaign, pledging to keep harmful forever chemicals out of the marine environment. Their contribution will help amplify the impact of public donations, enabling us to take meaningful action on this urgent issue.”

Charli Wilson, Partnerships Manager, Marine Conservation Society.
