From the Mariana Trench, the deepest point on earth, to surging shorelines and anywhere in-between, we make the impossible possible through our continuous passion for innovation.

Our people design, engineer and manufacture technologies that are enabling our customers to discover, navigate, measure, detect and communicate in the toughest environment on earth: Our oceans. We’ve been actively developing the technology to make the oceans accessible for over 50 years and we’re only just getting started… At Sonardyne, we value different ways of thinking. Whether you think in code, patterns, systems, or steps, your unique perspective is important to us.

Are you an experienced Embedded Electronics Engineer with a passion for innovation and technical excellence? We are looking for a talented individual to join our multidisciplinary team developing advanced subsea technology solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in both hardware and embedded firmware design and a passion for creating robust systems that operate reliably in challenging underwater environments.

If you join you will:

  • Design and layout of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) using Altium Designer.
  • Perform simulation and analysis of electronic schematics using PSPICE.
  • Develop detailed electronic system specifications and contribute to technical documentation.
  • Design analogue and digital circuits tailored to subsea instrumentation and communication systems.
  • Develop, test, and debug embedded firmware using C++, with an emphasis on real-time performance and reliability.
  • Work with STM32 microcontrollers and associated development tools.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and systems engineers to deliver integrated subsea solutions.
  • Support prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting of electronics under simulated and real subsea conditions.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong experience in PCB design and layout using Altium Designer.
  • Proficiency with PSPICE or equivalent tools for circuit simulation.
  • Solid background in both analogue and digital circuit design.
  • Proven experience in embedded C++ development for microcontroller-based systems.
  • Familiarity with STM32 microcontrollers and ARM Cortex-M architectures.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and debugging tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with environmental testing (pressure, temperature, vibration) for subsea electronics.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, CAN).
  • Familiarity with low-power and high-reliability design considerations.
  • Background in subsea or harsh environment product development.

Why Join Us?

We offer a dynamic and innovative work environment where you will have the opportunity to develop cutting-edge underwater equipment solutions. If you are driven by results, adaptable, and passionate about engineering excellence, we want to hear from you!

In addition, we also offer:

  • Flexible working arrangements, including part-time, hybrid working and 9-day fortnight
  • Average of 37.5 hours per week for full-time contracts
  • 30 days of holiday
  • Discretionary performance-related bonus
  • Recruitment referral scheme
  • Many social activities and opportunities to take part in our Green Team initiatives
  • Sonardyne champions scheme

Apply today and be part of our engineering team driving technological advancements in underwater systems! Everyone is welcome! We destroy stereotypes so you can be yourself at work – and thrive!
