Reduced risk

Remote, safe and low-cost Data: Edge customised and optimised data can be harvested acoustically with a small and efficient USV to reduce overall ship time, human intervention and associated risk.

Robust design

Robust and reliable hardware: It is less vulnerable to pressure cycling thanks to its novel acoustic design that combines small depth-rated piston transducers with steel acoustic reflectors.

Operational flexibility

It can support short-term and long-term current monitoring projects, free fall deployment and released recovery, and you can use our Ranger 2 systems to harvest data for actionable insights during monitoring periods.

An innovative, robust acoustic design

Origin 65 ADCP acoustics use a satellite-dish design. This allows Origin to match or exceed the acoustic performance of competing instruments, while reducing cost, prolonging battery life, and increasing robustness to pressure cycling – a long-standing problem with low-frequency ADCPs. Origin 65 is depth rated to 4,500 m and can deliver for your operations again and again.

Connect to the subsea world – integrated modem and PIES

The integrated modem allows Origin 65 to be queried and reprogrammed acoustically while deployed. During the measurement schedule, Pressure Inverted Echosounder (PIES) measurements are interleaved with current profiles. This allows time-of-flight (TOF) and average sound velocity (SV) to be determined in-situ alongside the ADCP sampling and the data fused in PD0, delivering all data time-aligned in one place. At the end of a deployment, the modem can be used to trigger the integrated acoustic release, allowing the device to float back to the surface for retrieval.

Origin ADCP – Edge enabled

Edge lets you run data processing applications on Origin 65 which are customised to your needs. The system will produce the information you are most interested in, rather than bulky raw data that would normally be processed once the device is recovered. You can harvest this data as a file or as a live stream, either through a cabled connection, or Origin 65’s integrated acoustic modem.

Edge computing enables the ability to write your own apps for Origin via our SDK. You can focus on the data you need from your applications. To get you started some of the apps already available include simple background currents and quality metrics.

More than just PD0 – introducing A-gram and B-gram

As default, Origin 65 produces the industry-standard PD0 data format. In addition, it can log our new and exclusive A-gram and B-gram proprietary formats. These offer up to ten times greater spatial resolution than PD0 and expose raw acoustic data for special applications. All data formats can be processed within the Edge computing environment, allowing for maximum onboard processing flexibility to suit a broad range of applications.
