Sonardyne - Delivering trusted solutions for acoustic positioning, inertial navigation, wireless communications, sonar imaging
The Type 8169 is a modular, transportable, through tube deployment pole for Sonardyne USBL high performance systems. The pole is designed for vessels where through-hull deployment, via gate valves, or over the side deployment options are not available or practical.
The pole design is scalable to fit through an existing tube or for a new tube installation. The minimum tube inner diameter is 240mm. The wall thickness and fabrication of the tube will also determine its suitability.
Manufactured from high grade steel, the highly rigid pole includes vortex shedding strakes to reduce drag and vibration that can reduce overall performance.
Once deployed, the pole is held rigidly in place using a locating and orientation flange at the top of the tube and hydraulically operated clamp mechanisms near the bottom. When the clamps are engaged they increase the stiffness of the pole and ensure a high degree of repeatability when lowered.
Longevity and robustness are enhanced by fabrication from hot dipped galvanised steel which is then over coated with a two part marine epoxy.
