Sonardyne - Delivering trusted solutions for acoustic positioning, inertial navigation, wireless communications, sonar imaging

The Command Workstation is composed of three, separate, 2U high units: the System Router (SRU); Control & Display Processor (C&D); and the slide-out display. Each of these components is a COTS based ruggedized item.
Display Images, Track Data and System Status are received by the System Router from each Sonar Router uplink, with the internal switch transferring this data to the C&D, where it is aggregated and prepared for display. Raw data from all sonars is overlaid on either a calibrated background image (satellite photograph or chart) or a blank background. Tracks are assigned colours and symbols based on alert-state and classification and placed as the top layer above raw sonar and background images.
A user interface is provided, along with a mouse and keyboard, that allows the operator to configure the system, control its operation and request further detail on a selected track.
The Sentinel Control & Display software also provides servers for track, status and display data as well as remote control; traffic to these is routed, via the System Router, to an external uplink port for connection to an external Command and Control system.
The Sentinel Processing Unit (SPU) used is configured at runtime in the C&D role by use of a coded dongle and, in keeping with the rest of the system, is fully interchangeable with any other SPU.
Power for the C&D and the slide-out display is supplied via the System Router and the C&D SPU is configured to auto-start on power-up.
The slide-out display is a ruggedized LCD panel, supporting resolutions up to 1280x1024. It is a full marine grade display with high viewing angles and high contrast even in high ambient light conditions.
