To undertake comprehensive testing of navigation systems, integrating hardware, software and firmware to ensure that new and updated products achieve agreed performance and quality standards prior to customer application.
1. To collate, analyse, interpret and maintain system test data, creating written reports, in accordance with ISO quality requirements, to summarise general results, highlight issues, suggest recommendations and identify action responsibilities.
2. To maintain test documents, ensure calibration of test equipment and conduct system testing for all system "components" ie hardware, software, firmware, software tools etc through the use of air testing, tank testing, sea trials or offshore testing etc.
3. To coordinate sea trials in liaison with Plymouth personnel, ensuring the dates, equipment, boat availability and tidal information etc fully support the testing schedule.
4. To provide usability feedback to design authorities across the Company and to other operational departments to ensure existing and future system requirements provide maximum customer satisfaction at all levels.
5. To apply technical expertise in support of specific Customer situations, both onshore and offshore, including installation of new or specialist systems into the field, hands-on training of customers, demo's and trialling of new systems to potential customers, delivery of formal training courses or involvement in Customer Support/Survey Group directed activities.
6. To develop and maintain excellent communication channels with hardware, software and firmware specialists across the Company to ensure the best possible working relationships.
7. To share Support Phone duties on a rota basis providing specialist support specifically for Fusion/Marksman and other software queries.
Knowledge
• Geophysics surveying
• Land surveying
• Knowledge of Sonardyne products and their application in the market
Experience
• Marine offshore/inshore survey experience including DGPS, sidescan, multibeam, bathymetry, sub-bottom profiling, USBL positioning etc
• Degree or equivalent qualification in: Hydrographic/Marine/Land Survey, Marine Engineering/Technology, Ocean Sciences/Oceanography, Geophysics, Marine Geography/ Hydrography
• Engineering related IT experience: Windows Office Suite, programming in Excel, manipulation of data files, GIS etc
