Sonardyne is an international technology company delivering trusted solutions for acoustic positioning, inertial navigation, wireless subsea communication and sonar imaging to the offshore oil and gas, maritime defence and ocean research industries.

From our origins in the North Sea in the early 1970's through to today's deep water field developments, innovation and performance have maintained Sonardyne's reputation for technical leadership, and today the company's products are recognised for their dependability and advanced design.

Our goal is to deliver competitive advantage to our customers through the development of innovative solutions that improve operational efficiencies and increase the capabilities of our clients, their people and their assets.

Sonardyne's headquarters are in the UK with international offices strategically located around the world providing clients with the highest level of service. Our global reach ensures that we can deliver, commission and support clients' field operations in even the most remote and hostile locations.

Certified to ISO 9001:2000, quality is an inherent goal of Sonardyne. It is the company's policy to design and manufacture products and provide services which are fit for purpose in all respects, including reliability and through-life costs and support. This is backed up with company-wide commitment to resolve the unforeseen challenges of our markets quickly and effectively.

Our People

With a successful track record spanning four decades, Sonardyne’s principal strength has always been the know-how and dedication of our people.

Our commercial team is recognised as one of the most experienced and knowledgeable in the industry. With all projects, our approach is to work with clients to ensure we have a thorough understanding of their exact requirements, budgets and project deadlines.

Sonardyne’s research and development team have a fundamental understanding of the theory and practise of underwater acoustics and navigation mathematics. By continually seeking to develop the next generation of acoustic technologies using new signal modulation and coding techniques, we are able to present appropriate solutions to our clients’ challenges.

From design through to manufacturing, our engineering and production teams have access to the latest tools and materials. Acoustic test tanks, state-of-the-art CAD/CAM machine shop and transducer laboratories are just some of the in-house resources available that allow us to maintain our flexibility, manage our lead times and maintain our high quality standards.

In many cases, vessels, subsea systems and operating environments are unique. Where standard off-the-shelf equipment is not suitable, we have the flexibility to propose customised solutions that encompass acoustics, electronics, software and mechanical hardware.

From our headquarters facility 40 south-west of London, England, we co-ordinate the international movement of products in a timely, efficient and compliant manner ensuring our customers have their products when and where they need them.

For many projects, delivery is just the start of the story. From pre-installation surveys through to operator training and system commissioning, our field engineers provide the skills and experience to ensure that every installation is a success.

Pioneering Technology

In the world's most challenging subsea environments our solutions deliver accuracy and reliability giving our clients the confidence to operate successfully at any water depth.

Our Wideband technology provides robust tracking and communications for the latest generation of autonomous underwater vehicles that are changing the way we explore the oceans. By combining communications and positioning, we are optimising weight, space and power.

We're helping oil companies map future hydrocarbon reserves by providing precise positioning for marine seismic surveys. From transition zone to deep marine and the latest electromagnetic techniques, we're committed to continuous innovation.

For dynamically positioned vessel operations our Wideband technology provides uninterrupted position data every second independent of water depth, vital factors when reliability and confidence in your systems is critical.

We are using our expertise in underwater instrumentation to develop solutions for the protection of our environments. Our proven capability in sensor integration and communication in deepwater provided an immediate solution to the detection of Tsunami waves.

We're enabling the precise installation of subsea infrastructures that are helping to guarantee energy supplies for the future. The challenge of increasingly complex field development in deep water is being met with our proven, low risk Wideband solutions.

That same wideband technology is also being applied to allow simultaneous vessel operations to accelerate field development. Riser monitoring, valve control and actuation are demands that further extend the use of wideband technology.

We're at the forefront in the development of technology for maritime homeland security applications protecting marine assets. Our expertise in maintaining reliable positioning in difficult acoustic conditions is helping to identify subsea threats.

Through innovation we are applying our technology to creating trusted solutions to your most important problems.
